Godmanchester Rovers keeper will hang up his gloves at the end of the season
Niall Conroy insists he will never say never to returning in the future, but is looking forward to taking a break from football.

The former St Ives, St Neots, Histon, Soham, Cambridge City and Haverhill Borough keeper has announced that he will quit playing at the end of this season, despite being aged only 27.

But he has promised to see out the season with his current club, Godmanchester Rovers, in the Eastern Counties Premier before hanging up his gloves.

Godmanchester Rovers boss out to build a settled side after agreeing to stay on

Ollie Drake is staying on as Godmanchester Rovers manager for the rest of this season.
Drake told the Hunts Post last week that he was considering his future at the helm.

But he is now committed for the current campaign and is determined to turn around Rovers' fortunes.

They fell to a fourth defeat in their last five games in all competitions when being beaten 3-1 at Newmarket Town in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division last Saturday.

The local club are enduring a tough season in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division.

They slipped to 10th position in the standings following a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Kirkley & Pakefield last Saturday when again without a whole host of players.

Late penalty gets depleted Godmanchester Rovers out of a spot of bother

Scraping victory against rock-bottom opposition with a stoppage-time penalty might not usually be the cue for wild celebrations.
But it was the exact scenario which left Godmanchester Rovers boss Ollie Drake feeling ecstatic last Saturday.

Ross Munro coolly stepped up from the spot to earn a 5-4 victory at basement boys Gorleston and secure three precious Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division points for a patched-up Rovers side who were without seven regular players.
